Aus Rache für den Tod eines Freundes tötet der Kriegsveteran Shozo Hirono (Bunta Sugawara) einen Yakuza, weswegen er im Gefängnis landet. Dort trifft er auf ein Mitglied des Doi-Syndikats und schließt mit ihm Blutsbruderschaft. Aus dem Gefängnis entlassen wird Shozo Mitglied im Syndikat der Yamamori. “Battles without honor and humanity” ist für Genrefreunde mit Sicherheit ein sehenswerter Film. Auch mich hat der Film angesprochen, doch nicht so, wie andere Vertreter der Yakuza-Filme. Irgendwie hat mir bei diesem Genrevertreter der letzte Schliff gefehlt und die ganze Story wirkte auf mich doch ein wenig zu konstruiert.
Dennoch bereue ich es nicht mir den Film angesehen zu haben. Trotz seiner Schwächen in der Geschichte, weiß der Film zu unterhalten, zumal Hauptdarsteller Bunta Sugawara (Trail of Blood, Cops vs. Thugs) richtig gut aufgelegt ist.
Punkten kann “Battles without honor and humanity” auch bei den Kampfszenen. Diese sind wirklich sehenswert. Besonders in Hinblick darauf, dass der Film bereits aus dem Jahre 1973 ist, ist es erstaunlich, dass der Film in diesem Bereich locker mit einigen neuzeitlichen Produktionen mithalten kann.
